About Us

The founder of Auto Values is a self-confessed Petrol Head and with a long record of active participation in motorsport and the motor industry.

I grew up in the then Port Elizabeth ( Motortown in those days) and watched my first motorsport event at the St Albans circuit where amongst the competitors was a certain J Schechter. I have raced Karts, a Lotus 7’s, a Ray Formula GTI, a 911 Porsche Carrera, and a Sports 2000. I even once owned a motorsport engineering company for a few years

I have served on the committees of several motorsport organizations including the Lotus Register, The Formula Libre Association and the Porsche Club.

In 1979 I was elected to The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and worked at BMW SA for a period of 2 years, before a long stint in the IT sector.

My interest in the Subject of Valuations was catalyzed by a period in the Aviation Industry and Aircraft sales in Particular. Here I was schooled in the Blue Book valuation methodology and this ultimately culminated in the development of an aircraft sales and valuation software application.

Based on this, it was inevitable that I would take some of this software development experience to the realm of classic and collectable cars, which I did in 2001. This ultimately ended up in Auto Values and rest as they say, is History.
